Today was such a great day out with Kerry and Joe. They joined me on the patrol to Sinende.
Met the Rangers who were in great spirits.
The elies are still in the area and more destruction starting to set in with concerns rising.
While engaging the community the most amazing and unlikely discussion came up.
What is the future of both themselves and the elephants? Is there a way they can accommodate them at the same time earn a living from compatible land uses. With the perennial droughts currently ravaging the area, failed crops one thing was certain we need to talk about the future….together.
The scenic beauty and allure of the great rift presents such an enormous potential for tourism. We parted with the shot that this debate continues. Opportunities may be beckoning out of these challenges. A seed has certainty been planted.
